Minimising nuisance
Facts and figures
- CrownGate is the landmark shopping centre in Worcester
- Innovative design ensured the required access was met whilst delivering a safe working area
- Usable thoroughfare and the visibility of the shop windows was maximised
Why did we do this?
When Interserve won the contract for a major shopping centre refurbishment programme to give the centre a new and exiting look, the retailers affected were concerned about potential fall in sales.
A traditional tube and fittings structure would restrict access to the shopping centre and limit the visibility of window displays.
How did we do this?
For phase two of the programme, when a new roof was due to be constructed over an open area, it was necessary to construct a platform from which the work could safely be carried out while keeping the shops and important walk way to the centre open. We developed a discrete solution using heavy duty RMD Kwikform Slimshor legs to support the safe platform required for work to construct the roof. This design allowed clear access to shop fronts and entrances.
